Last-Week-of-School Announcements

Good evening, Archway Lincoln families! We have one more week before the term is over, then we all get a much-needed rest.

There are several new announcements for this week, so please read through the entire post.

A Sincere Thank You to Our Volunteers

thank youOn behalf of the entire Archway Lincoln PSO, we want to thank every one of our volunteers who have given their time and effort both inside the classroom and out. Your hard work and dedication has helped Lincoln get off to a great start, and it never would have been possible without you. We look forward to a rewarding second half of the year, as well.

Read-A-Thon Update: The End is Near!

Screen Shot 2015-11-13 at 3.35.31 PMCongratulations to our students for helping earn over $11,000 for our school! The teachers who have qualified for their own incentives will be making wish lists of items they’d like to see in their classroom and PSO will be purchasing those items soon.

Remember, THURSDAY is the last day of our Read-a-Thon. There is still time for you and your child to help us reach our goal of $15,000. Here’s a quick recap of the incentives students can earn:

  • $25 or two sponsors — Denim Friday
  • $50 or five sponsors — Crazy Hair Day
  • $100 or 10 sponsors — Student/Teacher Kickball Game and picnic
  • Top 10 earners will qualify for a raffle of 4 $25 B&N Gift Cards
  • Top earner wins a new Kindle Fire
Monitor Your Child’s Communication

We also want offer a gentle reminder that parents should be monitoring the communication their child is having with the other kids on the Learn2Earn.org site. Inappropriate comments or cyber-bullying will not be tolerated and can lead to your child’s privileges being revoked, loss of incentives, and possible discipline by the school. The Learn2Earn site is an extension of the school, and just as your child shows great-heartedness at school, they should demonstrate it when they log on, as well.

Dress as Your Favorite Literary Character
Robinhood
One of the teachers at Archway Arete last year dressed as Robin Hood.

On Thursday, children (and staff!) are invited to dress as their favorite literary character. Approval slips went home last week. Your child’s costume must be approved by their teacher. If you need another approval slip, please email your teacher. Costumes aren’t mandatory; if not dressing up, your child should wear their uniform.

Many classes have special events planned for Thursday, so be sure to check your inbox from your teacher or classroom parent coordinator.

After the New Year, we will announce the students who have won the different incentives we’ve offered, so stay tuned for more information.

Special Back-T0-School Ice Skating Event Friday, January 8th

iceskatingWe’re not on break yet, but your PSO is already thinking of great ways to bring everyone together in the new year. What better way to welcome everyone back than a back-to-school ice skating event at AZ Ice in Gilbert. Join us from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. and skate the night away!

Check in and pay at the special Archway Lincoln table. Cost is $10/pp for children and adults (kids under age 3 are $3.50). We’ll send out more details after the first of the year, but be sure to put a placeholder in your calendar for this exciting event!

Coming Soon: Sign-Ups for Conferences, Office, and Lunchroom

blue help wantedPlease watch your inbox for information about sign-ups for the office, lunchroom, and teachers luncheons on conference days in January. As we mentioned, we depend upon the generosity of our parents to make our teachers and staff feel appreciated and to ensure both the office and lunchroom run without a hitch.

As soon as the sign-ups have been created, we’ll send them out. Thank you in advance for your time and effort to make our school run smoothly and to show our teachers and staff how awesome they are!

Shop (and Earn) for the Holidays!

Next Family Fun Night: Peter Piper Pizza

pppLogoPencil in your calendars our next Family Fun Night at Peter Piper Pizza on Friday, January 22, 2016 at the corner of Alma School and Queen Creek. This will be a reunion of sorts, as it’s where we held our very first Family Fun Night. We looking forward to seeing you there!

Box Top Collection Continues

box-topsThank you to all the parents and kids who collected Box Tops this past fall. We made over $590! Box Top collection continues. Our next scheduled turn-in won’t be until this spring, so there is lots of time to cut and collect.

Please keep in mind the following regarding Box Tops:

  • The date must be visible on the box top and it must not be expired.
  • We must sort them into groups of 50, so if you have 50 saved up at home, drop them in a baggie (marked with “Qty 50”) before turning them in. You can also use this handy collection paper to cut and glue/tape them. BTFE-collection-sheet

If you have any questions, please email Archway Lincoln PSO.

We wish you a very relaxing, restful holiday and a safe and happy New Year.
